Joie Pare
Born and raised on the west coast of British Columbia, I grew up exploring forests, creeks, and trails, developing a lifelong love for nature. Drawing animals since childhood, I was encouraged by my artistic mother and honed my skills through practice, competitions, and community displays.
In my thirties, after moving to the West Kootenays, I began painting seriously, inspired by the surrounding wilderness. My work is deeply influenced by the time I spend outdoors—hunting, fishing, and exploring provide endless reference and understanding of wildlife.
I paint large, detailed pieces that capture not just animals, but the harmony of their surroundings. For me, art is both grounding and consuming, a way to connect viewers with the quiet, powerful beauty of living in the moment.
Robert Noakes has been inspired by art since childhood, when he first discovered the joy of capturing the world through pencil, brush, and colour. Over the years, his passion grew into a lifelong pursuit of creativity and self-expression.
A framer by trade, Robert has always been surrounded by the beauty of art in its many forms. This connection to the artistic world deepened his appreciation for composition, detail, and craftsmanship, which continue to influence his own work today.
Since settling in Kelowna in 1985, Robert has drawn endless inspiration from the Okanagan Valley. He works primarily with acrylic and oil, creating paintings that reflect his love for nature, landscapes, architecture, and the region's bounty of orchards and vineyards. His pieces are a heartfelt celebration of the places and moments that define life in the valley.
For Robert, painting is more than a creative outlet—it is a way to share his perspective and the beauty he sees every day. Each brushstroke tells a story of his journey: from a young boy inspired by art, to a craftsman and framer, to an artist who continues to follow his heart and passion.
